Clerk admits using skimmer to steal credit card numbers
A Gold River man pleaded guilty Wednesday to two counts of credit card fraud in the theft of more than 600 customers' credit card numbers.
Former convenience store clerk Amir Noshin, 21, admitted in federal court that he used a small electronic "skimming" device to steal credit card and ATM account personal identification numbers from customers. Noshin accessed the cards while working at the Union 76/Circle K stores in Cameron Park, Citrus Heights and Rancho Cordova, said Robin Taylor of the U.S. attorney's office for the Eastern District of California in Sacramento. Investigators recovered the stolen card numbers on Noshin's personal computer.
Noshin said in court that he sold the credit card numbers to a third party, while he and others used the ATM cards to make withdrawals at Bank of America and Wells Fargo branches.
